So for the last couple of weeks in English i've been reading through William Shakespeare's most well known Elizabethan tragedy "Rome and Juliet"
and today i read a line that has kept me thinking all day
'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself."

In this scene Juliet is angry because a simple name is keeping her from her true love Romeo
for he is a Montaque and she is a Capulet and their families are bitter Italian rivals who forbid theyre children to intermarry
Romeo and Juliet is possibly one of the most well written pieces of literature i've ever read
iam not a big love story fan but the imagery and other elements of literature in this book is incredible!!
anyways this quote really has kept me thinking about names
whats the point of a name????
Identification???
Seperation?
names can be both a good and bad thing??
can be a sign of respect of disgust
names are simply words given to identify a specific person object or emotion
So many times i dream of what it must have been like for adam to name all the animals in the garden!! how his mind comprehended everything and kept track of it
iam amazed at the complex system we have created for naming animals nowdays
and how silly and pointless some of ways we come up names for our children
see i've decided that my first son will be named "Maximus Zion" and my daugher "Zoe Grace"
i've come up w/ these names because i like them and they are different and exotic
but names are simply a title
they have nothing to do with the actual thing itself
a pig is called a pig but a the word "pig" doesnt describe any part of that pig
so why the heck is it called pig????????
i've found one thing that is can be harmful/helpful is a name
i've watched as names are hurled @ people and penetrate the heart like a dagger abliterating their self esteem and perception of other people and themselves
i've seen what happens when names seem to brighten up the day.. make the sun shine brighter.. and make life just more enjoyable
there is so much power in a simple name

iam talking about names like
smart, beautiful, nerdy, looser, stoner, christian, perfect, whore, gentlmen, jerk?????
whats the name that society has defined u by???
does it describe you???
if it's negative how can u change that name????
i know there is a dude who can changer ur name
he changed a dudes name from jacob to isreal
but it came @ a cost
in order to get his name changed he was marked for the rest of his life
